Well hello blogging lovers! So far I kept true my my new years resolution. There has been a blog post at least once a week this month and January is already almost over!! Earlier this month I had a blast shooting some head shots for Nichole Markel, a local teacher pursuing a theatre career. Just over a year ago I met Nichole and her fiance at the first annual Mother Lode Bridal Faire. The couple was at the show planning their wedding and searching for local vendors. Unfortunately, they already had booked a photographer for their big day, but a year later Nichole remembered me when she needed new head shots for her acting portfolio.
Nichole and I met in downtown Murphys, were we founds some great textures and colors as backgrounds. I love using natural outdoor locations for photo-shoots, because you never get the same background twice. In a studio your stuck with solid colors or boring textures that fake a natural look.
I had a blast shooting Nichole and getting to know more about her talents ask a music teacher at Calaveras High School. Here are a few “a lot” of shots from her session. We would love to hear your feedback on which ones are your favorites, and those that should be included in her portfolio.

One of my good friends turned 21 last week and for her invitations she wanted something that screamed fun. About a week before her birthday we did a session at 9pm in downtown Angels Camp. Here are some images that she used on her invitations…..

Planning a wedding can be such a fun time, and also a time of much decision-making. Bridal show season is in full swing, and one of the tools that brides should consider is attending a bridal show. On Januaray 24th, 2010 the Calaveras County Chamber of Commerce will be presenting their second annual Mother Lode Bridal Faire in the Mark Twain Hall at the Calaveras County Fairgrounds.
The faire will be held from 11am-3pm, admission and parking is FREE to all guests attending. The show allows couples to find everything for their perfect day — from caterers to rehearsal dinner locations to photographers. There are going to be hourly raffle prizes and over thirty of the most sought-after wedding venders in our area.
The Calaveras County Fairgrounds is a central location for surrounding wedding venders and specialist making it a prime location for the Mother Lode Bridal Faire. “Calaveras county is a perfect place to market weddings so hosting a bridal faire seemed like a perfect fit,” shared Executive Director Diane Gray.
Many brides have never attended a bridal show before, so here are some helpful tips to make your bridal show experience even more enjoyable. Wear comfortable shoes and bring someone with you! Bring your Mother, a Bridesmaid, and yes, your fiancé may even enjoy himself! They can help you with collecting information and they would be happy you included them in the planning process! As for your fiancé? Just tell him that he can win free stuff and eat free cake!
Bring the following items: pen, notebook, date book. The best place to take notes is on the actual brochure handed out by each vendor. That way you connect a face to your notes, to your brochure, and it will be easier to remember that specific vender. Enjoy yourself! It’s just a bridal show! Nothing HAS to be set in stone that day. Use this time to gather information and enjoy any of the special offers extended to you. You are the Bride; you make the rules when dealing with vendors. It’s YOUR day make the best of it!

The holiday season has passed and our new years resolutions have been made. I have been extremely busy over the holidays, which has lea me to neglect my daily blog. My blog is an update of my recent work, ideas, and sessions. So its set……… my new years resolution is to at least post three blogs a week…(too easy right?)
To start off my new years adventure I wanted to share my last holiday portrait that I shot this season. Alishia (a dear friend if mine) and her mother met to shoot their holiday photographs for their Christmas cards and it turned out to be one of the coldest days we had right before the holidays. The air was so cold you could see our breath and my fingers about froze off while snapping photos. In all the cold weather did create some great clouds which was a great backdrop to their portraits. Here are a few of my favorite shots from the session.

This past summer I photographed 17 weddings and today I will be updating my website with my most recent work. If you experience slow loading or missing images it is due to the update. I will be updating the following pages: home, weddings, engagements, and investment page. I hope you all are enjoying the first Monday of the new year.

Darren Baca owner of Reel Eyes has been such a good friend of mine as far back as I can remember. We have both become artists of our own trade but often get the opportunity to work together as we both cover weddings. I had the awesome experience of stepping into his shoes and shooting a wedding in motion as an assistant videographer. It was so cool to video the wedding and to see how different it is from photographing a wedding. Here is the video link: http://vimeo.com/31214158. A few of my shots are in the opening which is even more awesome, I must have done somewhat of a good job. Thanks Darren for letting me shooting this wedding with you, it was a lot of fun.

When I met Jenna and Justin a little over a year ago I knew from the moment I met them that their wedding was going to be a blast. It was just that! I set a record for dancing photos taking over 700 of just dancing, that explains the amount of energy and hip hop music that made the night fun. They got married up in the hills of Highway 17 in Los Gatos at the Creekside Terrace.

with wedding season gliding along, were still shooting engagement sessions for our September and October weddings. I spent almost an entire week in the bay shooting weddings and engagement sessions last week. Jenny and Clark both live in the the city near Buena Vista park so they wanted to photograph their engagements close to home. I love this couple. I met them about a year ago at my home studio and once we opened the studio on main in Murphys they were thrilled to come and take a peak. So here is a peak at their engagement session.
